Pre-Paid Credit Cards

Have you recently applied for a credit card and have been rejected due to poor credit or no credit? You are not the only one. There are many other people that are in the same situation as you. In this day and age, it is very hard to be able to do anything without using a credit card. This could be a problem if you do not have a credit card because a credit card is needed to make reservations at hotels, to paying bills online, and even paying for gas at the pump. Instead of being hassled by these processes, you might consider getting a prepaid credit card.

When I was told about the prepaid credit card, I had many of the following questions.

  • What is a prepaid credit card and where can I get one?
  • How does a prepaid credit card work?
  • Are there any fees associated with the prepaid credit card?

I did my research and this is what I have found out about the prepaid credit cards. There are several different websites online that offer prepaid credit cards and they make it very easy to set up your new card. A prepaid credit card is works very similar to a debit card from your checking account. You can open a prepaid credit card by making a deposit into an account. Once your account is set up, there are no differences in the prepaid card to a regular credit card except for not getting yourself into debt. You can use your new prepaid credit card anywhere that you use a regular credit card. You can spend, spend, spend until your little heart is content or at least until your money runs out. Then all you have to do is make another deposit and you are ready to go again. You do not need to worry about going into credit card debt, paying monthly bills or interest charges.

There are a few fees that are associated with opening a prepaid credit card. What I found when I looked at all the different companies is that the fees range from $5 - $10 dollars to open an account. I also found out that most of the companies have a small additional fee anytime you make a deposit. I feel that the charges are very minimal and actually would probably be less than interest charges if you were carrying balances on a regular credit card. To someone that has bad credit or is challenged with managing your money, this type of process and fee set up would probably work to your advantage.

The frustration of being able to get approved for a credit card can stop now! The answer to being able to survive in today’s world is opening up a prepaid credit card. You don’t need to worry about your credit score or high interest charges, and it works anywhere a regular credit card works…so it sounds like the prepaid credit card is the way to go!
